Breakthrough certification secured

Raptee.HV has achieved a significant milestone with ARAI certification for its T30 electric motorcycle. This makes it India’s first two-wheeler featuring high-voltage technology typically found in electric cars.

The certification marks a turning point for electric mobility in India’s two-wheeler segment. The T30 stands out as the only electric motorcycle in the country compatible with CCS2 DC fast charging – the same standard used by electric cars.

Strong market reception

Since launching in October 2024, the startup has secured over 8,000 bookings for the T30. This aligns with the company’s first-year sales target of $25 million, indicating strong market demand for premium electric motorcycles.

Raptee.HV has been developing its high-voltage powertrain technology since 2019. Their goal? Bringing advanced EV technology to motorcycles at competitive prices.

Performance meets practicality

The T30 delivers performance comparable to a 300cc internal combustion engine motorcycle. However, it offers several advantages over traditional bikes:

  • Eight-year battery warranty
  • Fast-charging capability
  • Access to India’s network of 22,000+ DC fast chargers
  • Pricing at ₹2.39 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • Additional savings through road tax exemptions

Industry-changing technology

“We are setting a precedent here,” said Dinesh Arjun, CEO and Co-Founder of Raptee.HV. “We believe the entire motorcycle ecosystem will inevitably transition to high voltage, much like the electric car industry due to its innate advantages.”

Arjun highlighted the challenges overcome: “Certification of an entirely new architecture means developing not just the subcomponents but also the performance, safety, and validation standards, co-creating the supplier ecosystem, and then actively working with the regulatory body.”

Expansion plans underway

Jayapradeep Vasudevan, Chief Business Officer at Raptee.HV, emphasized the global potential of their technology. “Our HV technology not only helps us to deliver a superior riding experience but also helps to break significant EV industry barriers like reliability and charging anxiety.”

The company plans to begin deliveries in Chennai and Bangalore in the first quarter of the 2025-26 financial year. A phased expansion to other markets will follow.

Innovation-driven approach

Innovation remains at Raptee’s core. The company has filed 156 patents related to its high-voltage powertrain and motorcycle design. All electronics, including critical subsystems, are developed in-house.

Following funding in October 2023 led by Blue Hill Capital and Artha 99, Raptee.HV is now in discussions to raise an additional $19 million. This capital will support expansion and production plans.

Founded in 2019 by Dinesh Arjun (formerly with Tesla) and three other co-founders, the company now employs more than 120 people focused on electric mobility innovations.
