Strategic Collaboration to Drive Zero-Emission Public Transport
Indian electric bus manufacturer JBM Electric Vehicles has entered into a strategic partnership with Dubai-based Al Habtoor Motors to deliver next-generation electric buses in the United Arab Emirates. The agreement underscores JBM’s ambition to expand its global footprint while supporting the UAE’s clean mobility transition, in line with its broader climate goals.
Partnership Details and Deployment Plans
Under the alliance, JBM will supply a fleet of advanced, low-floor electric buses equipped with fast-charging technology, energy-efficient drivetrains, and intelligent fleet management systems. Al Habtoor Motors, one of the UAE’s largest automotive distributors, will leverage its strong distribution and after-sales network to ensure seamless deployment and maintenance of the vehicles. The collaboration is expected to serve public transport operators, smart city developers, and government-led urban mobility programs across the Emirates.
Market Context and Strategic Relevance
The UAE, committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050, is scaling up investments in sustainable mobility solutions. Electric buses are a critical component of this strategy as cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi push to replace diesel-powered fleets with cleaner alternatives. With competitors such as BYD, Yutong, and local operators already in play, JBM’s entry offers regional buyers a new option backed by proven performance in the Indian EV bus segment, where it has delivered vehicles for both intercity and intracity applications.
Leadership Vision and Long-Term Impact
Speaking on the partnership, Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman of JBM Group, emphasized the company’s commitment to shaping the future of sustainable transport: “Our collaboration with Al Habtoor Motors is a significant milestone in our journey to provide world-class electric mobility solutions globally.” The alliance aims not only to boost JBM’s presence in the Middle East but also to advance the UAE’s ambition of becoming a hub for innovation in green mobility, potentially setting the stage for wider adoption across the GCC region.
