IKEA has announced an ambitious plan to expand its fleet of electric delivery vehicles by 40% by the fiscal year 2024-25.
This initiative is part of IKEA’s broader commitment to sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint. Currently, the company operates 200 electric vehicles (EVs) in major Indian cities, including Bangalore and Hyderabad.
The expansion will support IKEA’s goal of achieving zero-emission deliveries in all its markets. “With the opening of the Delhi NCR market scheduled for 2025, we will require additional EVs to meet our Zero Emission Delivery goals,” said Saiba Suri, Country Customer Fulfilment Manager, IKEA India. The company plans to adopt an EV-first approach in new markets, ensuring that sustainability is at the forefront of its operations. This move is expected to significantly reduce the environmental impact of IKEA’s delivery operations and set a benchmark for other companies in the retail sector.
