With India’s EV market witnessing exponential adoption, the Indian Charge Point Operators Association (ICPOA) hosted its flagship Bharat EV Charging Conclave 2025 in New Delhi. The event brought together charge point operators, equipment manufacturers, electric mobility service providers, utility reps, automakers, and top policymakers to forge a common roadmap for reliable, large-scale, consumer-centric charging infrastructure.
ICPOA, India’s first industry body dedicated to EV charging, highlighted how vehicle electrification cannot flourish without accessible, standardized, and interoperable charging. Chairman Awadhesh Kumar Jha (Glida) stressed the need to put charging at “the center of India’s mobility transition.” The association is lobbying for policies that encourage investment, simplify permitting, and mandate charging availability across urban and intercity travel corridors.
Key initiatives discussed included the Know Your Battery (KYB) program for consumer awareness, government partnerships to shape progressive standards, and robust regulatory engagement to guarantee roaming and seamless payment across providers. The conclave spotlighted the gap between installed capacity and operational reliability—underscoring that consumer trust hinges on stations’ uptime and easy user experience.
ICPOA also called for applying net-zero frameworks, city- and highway-focused rollouts, and better integration of renewable energy in charging stations. Members supported unified protocols, technology-neutral policies, and incentives for both large operators and startups, believing these steps are critical for India’s energy security and climate ambitions.
As the 2025 conclave demonstrates, coordinated industry and public action is now in clear view—but rapid execution, scaling private investment, and flexible policy remain essential for India’s EV dream to fully materialize.
