About the Technology Pioneers Initiative

Launched in 2000, the WEF Technology Pioneers program identifies and supports startups whose technologies have the potential to reshape industries and address pressing global challenges. Over its 25-year history, the initiative has recognized more than 1,200 companies, including now-household names like Google, PayPal, Dropbox, and SoundCloud. Selected companies benefit from a two-year engagement with the Forum, gaining access to global networks, collaborative opportunities, and participation in high-profile events such as the Annual Meeting of the New Champions.

Exponent Energy: Ultra-Fast Charging for India’s EV Revolution

Exponent Energy stands out for its proprietary charging system, which can charge EV batteries from 0 to 100% in just 15 minutes while guaranteeing a 3,000-cycle life—matching or exceeding industry standards. The company’s technology leverages standard lithium-ion cells and includes:

●      e^pack battery: A robust battery pack engineered for extreme fast charging.

●      e^pump charger: A rapid charging station that maintains battery health through advanced liquid cooling, keeping temperatures in check even during high-speed charging.

●      Battery Management System (BMS) 2.0: Proprietary algorithms reduce lithium plating by 87%, ensuring longevity and safety.

This ecosystem enables ultra-fast, reliable charging for commercial EVs, with over 2,000 vehicles already using Exponent’s technology across major Indian cities like Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Hyderabad.

 

Strategic Growth and Impact

Founded in 2020 by Arun Vinayak and Sanjay Byalal Jagannath, Exponent Energy has raised $44.6 million from top investors, including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Eight Roads Ventures, YourNest VC, 3one4 Capital, AdvantEdge VC, and the family office of Dr. Pawan Munjal (Hero MotoCorp)8. The company is rapidly scaling its presence, aiming to deploy 1,000 charging stations and support 25,000 EVs by the end of 2025.
