Breakthrough in Battery Technology
Clean Electric, a deeptech startup specializing in liquid-cooled battery solutions, has raised $6 million in its Series A funding round. The round was co-led by Info Edge Ventures, pi Ventures, and Kalaari Capital, with additional participation from Lok Capital.
This funding will allow Clean Electric to further its research and development, scale production, and expand its operations in both the electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage sectors.
Advanced Battery Innovation
Founded by Akash Gupta and Abhinav Roy, Clean Electric is known for its development of direct liquid-cooled battery packs designed for electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and stationary energy storage applications.
The company has pioneered the use of immersion cooling technology to improve battery performance while ensuring rapid charging. Their patented architecture also integrates a smart temperature modulation algorithm, which boosts charging efficiency without compromising on battery longevity.
Scaling Production and Industry Partnerships
Clean Electric has made significant progress since its inception, moving from laboratory prototypes to commercial-scale products. Currently, the company collaborates with 12 electric vehicle OEMs and is actively working on expanding its technology to four-wheelers and commercial EVs.
This new funding will enable them to scale deployments and further their battery-swapping infrastructure, addressing one of the key pain points in EV adoption: the need for fast, reliable charging solutions.
Vision for the Future
With an eye toward the future, Clean Electric is now focused on expanding its presence in the energy storage sector, targeting stationary applications that could extend its technology beyond EVs. The company aims to leverage India’s diverse climate and geographical conditions as a testing ground for its energy solutions, which could eventually scale to global markets.
Founder Akash Gupta has expressed gratitude for continued investor support, citing Kalaari Capital’s backing as instrumental in overcoming the challenges of deeptech innovation.
