The Indian government has launched the PM E-DRIVE scheme, offering up to 80% subsidy for setting up fast charging stations to promote electric vehicles (EVs). - Includes e-2 wheelers, e-3 wheelers, e-4 wheelers, e-buses, e-trucks, and e-ambulances.
- Newly introduced EV categories are also eligible under the scheme.
Subsidy Details:
- General cases: 80% subsidy on infrastructure costs.
- Special cases: Up to 100% subsidy for qualified applicants.
Government Allocation:
- ₹2000 crore has been allocated annually to support this initiative.
Cost Estimates for Charging Infrastructure:
- Small charging stations: ₹10 lakh to ₹30 lakh.
- Large charging hubs: ₹50 lakh to ₹1 crore or more.
