Tata Technologies Launches WATTSync for India’s Battery Aadhaar and EU Regulatory Compliance

EV Magazine Issue 10

Tata Technologies has introduced WATTSync, an advanced battery intelligence platform built to underpin India’s Battery Aadhaar ecosystem and comply with the EU Battery Regulation. The platform supports the issuance and management of the government-mandated 21-character Battery Pack Aadhaar Number (BPAN), delivering comprehensive lifecycle traceability for battery packs from production to end-of-life. It aims to digitalize battery data, enhance safety, and support next-generation circular economy practices in the EV battery landscape.

Robust Digital Identity and Data Framework

At its core, WATTSync includes a QR-code-enabled digital identity engine that provides secure access to both static and dynamic battery information with role-based access controls. The platform’s data model captures critical attributes such as manufacturer identifiers, chemistry, material composition, and carbon footprint metrics. This rich dataset underpins traceability for regulators, OEMs, and ecosystem partners while aligning with compliance requirements for traceability and sustainability reporting.

Real-Time Monitoring and BMS Integration

WATTSync integrates seamlessly with Battery Management Systems (BMS) to deliver real-time monitoring of key operational metrics including state-of-health (SoH) and charge-discharge cycles. This enables stakeholders to track performance trends, support warranty management, and prepare batteries for safe secondary use or recycling. The platform also facilitates API-based data exchange with government-mandated central servers to ensure interoperability across India’s battery ecosystem.

By building connectivity across manufacturing, data governance, and operational monitoring, Tata Technologies’ WATTSync stands to accelerate digital traceability and compliance readiness for India’s rapidly evolving EV battery industry.
