Simple Ultra debuts as longest-range electric scooter in India
Simple Energy has expanded its electric two-wheeler portfolio with the launch of the Simple Ultra, positioned as India’s longest-range electric scooter with an IDC-certified 400 km range. Powered by a 6.5 kWh battery pack, the Simple Ultra also delivers a claimed top speed of 115 kmph and accelerates from 0-40 kmph in 2.77 seconds, making it one of the quickest scooters in its class.
The Ultra represents a milestone for electric scooters in the country, addressing range anxiety and supporting both urban commuting and longer rides. The larger battery capacity not only contributes to extended range but also reinforces Simple Energy’s differentiation strategy in the competitive EV two-wheeler market.
Gen 2 refresh upgrades core scooter lineup
Alongside the Ultra, Simple Energy introduced Gen 2 updates to its existing scooter range. The Simple One Gen 2 is now offered in two battery configurations: a 4.5 kWh variant with a 236 km IDC range and a 5 kWh variant with a 265 km range, each featuring performance and usability enhancements over earlier models. The Simple OneS Gen 2 receives a modest range boost to 190 km and includes improved braking performance.
The Gen 2 models also feature connectivity and safety upgrades such as traction control, cruise control, four-level regenerative braking, and 5G e-SIM support for app integration, Bluetooth, and over-the-air updates. Multiple riding modes and increased under-seat storage aim to enhance everyday usability.
Availability, pricing and strategic outlook
Simple Energy’s refreshed scooter lineup spans four distinct models targeting varied rider needs, with introductory prices for the Gen 2 range starting at around ₹1.39 lakh (ex-showroom Bengaluru) for select variants. The company has expanded its retail footprint to 61+ showrooms across key Indian cities and supports online purchases via major platforms.
The Simple Ultra will be available for pre-booking with deliveries expected later in 2026, as Simple Energy scales production and network expansion ahead of its planned IPO. With a focus on range, performance and usability, the new portfolio underscores the company’s growth ambitions in India’s rapidly evolving EV two-wheeler segment.
