India’s first battery-electric transit mixer showcased at EXCON 2025

Schwing Stetter India and Qucev Technologies have jointly launched India’s first battery-electric transit concrete mixer at EXCON 2025 in Bengaluru. The 7m³ electric mixer marks a major milestone for clean construction technology in a sector still dominated by diesel-driven machinery. Unveiled on December 9, the model incorporates a 192.5 kWh battery pack and features dual CCS2 DC fast-charging capability, enabling a full charge in one hour. The mixer uses BYD’s Super Safe LFP Blade Battery, a technology known for its thermal stability and enhanced safety in high-demand applications.

High-performance electric drivetrain and operator-focused design

The electric transit mixer is equipped with a drum motor that delivers 20 kW of maximum rated power and 130 Nm of torque. These specifications support demanding concrete handling requirements during continuous operations at construction sites. The companies have also redesigned the vehicle’s cabin to improve comfort, visibility, and ergonomics for operators who work long shifts. Together, these performance and design elements position the mixer as a practical replacement for conventional diesel-based units.

Collaborative focus on sustainable construction machinery

Leadership from both companies emphasized that the electric mixer is part of a long-term strategy to introduce sustainable, heavy-duty construction equipment in India. Qucev Technologies, known for its electric light commercial vehicles and 55-ton electric tractors, brings EV engineering expertise, while Schwing Stetter India contributes long-standing domain knowledge in concrete equipment manufacturing. Although specific operating cost savings were not disclosed, the companies state that electric powertrains can significantly reduce running expenses and emissions.

Growing push for clean technology in construction

The product launch comes at a time when India’s construction sector is under increasing pressure to transition to cleaner technologies. As infrastructure projects expand nationwide, OEMs and fleet operators are exploring electrified machinery to meet environmental expectations. The introduction of the electric transit mixer positions Schwing Stetter and Qucev as early movers in a market likely to see rapid electrification over the coming years.
