Hyundai Motor Unveils 2030 Strategy Targeting 5.55 Million Global Sales

Hyundai Motor Company has revealed its ambitious roadmap for 2030, aiming to achieve 5.55 million annual vehicle sales, with 60% from electrified models. The strategy was presented by CEO José Muñoz during Hyundai’s first CEO Investor Day held outside Korea, in New York on September 18, 2025.

Electrification at the Core

Hyundai plans to sell 3.3 million electrified vehicles by 2030, spanning 18+ hybrid models and a complete EV lineup. The automaker will also introduce Extended Range EVs from 2027, designed to deliver 600+ miles (960 km) through battery-engine integration.

Key upcoming launches include:

  • IONIQ 3 for Europe
  • India’s first locally designed EV
  • China-produced Elexio SUV and electric sedan
  • A mid-size pickup truck for North America

Global Manufacturing Expansion

Hyundai is scaling its global footprint with an additional 1.2 million units of capacity by 2030. Highlights include:

  • $2.7 billion investment in the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (Georgia), adding 200,000 units capacity by 2028 and creating 3,000 jobs.
  • Localizing 80% of US vehicle production by 2030.
  • Expansion across India, South Korea, and other markets, supported by Software-Defined Factory (SDF) technology for flexible, efficient manufacturing.

Technology & Innovation Push

Hyundai is doubling down on advanced technology through:

  • Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) using the CODA architecture and Pleos OS.
  • Next-gen batteries targeting 30% cost reduction, 15% higher energy density, and 15% faster charging by 2027.

Genesis Growth Ambitions

Hyundai’s luxury arm, Genesis, aims for 350,000 annual sales by 2030. The brand has already surpassed 1 million global sales within eight years of its launch.

Financial Outlook

CFO Seung Jo Lee confirmed a KRW 77.3 trillion investment (2026–2030) in R&D, capex, and strategic growth, with revenue growth targeted at 5–6%.

Hyundai’s strategy positions it as a Smart Mobility Solution Provider, advancing zero-emission vehicles, robotics, and autonomous mobility solutions worldwide.
