A Major Milestone in Indo-Mauritius Clean Mobility Ties
In a landmark development for green mobility and international collaboration, Switch Mobility—a leading global electric bus manufacturer and part of the Hinduja Group—has delivered the first batch of 10 all-electric EiV12 buses to Mauritius. This consignment is part of a 100-unit order and comes as a special gift from the Government of India to the Government of Mauritius under a government-to-government agreement, underscoring the deep strategic and developmental partnership between the two nations.
This initiative marks a powerful display of the “Make in India, for the World” movement, as Indian innovation supports international sustainable development ambitions.

Delivery via Open Tender and Mauritian Rollout
The deployment to Mauritius was facilitated through an open tender by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), with the buses to be operated by the National Transport Corporation (NTC)—Mauritius’ state-owned public transit operator. This strategic initiative will help reduce the country’s carbon emissions, modernize its transit fleet, and bring the benefits of Indian EV technology to everyday Mauritian commuters.
Strengthening Diplomatic and Economic Ties
The project not only advances Mauritius’ climate and transport modernization goals, but also highlights India’s growth as a competitive exporter of high-technology, sustainable vehicles. Leaders from both countries hailed the e-bus delivery as:
- A “paradigm shift in public transport”
- A living symbol of the special India–Mauritius relationship
- Evidence of India’s broad support for Mauritius’ green development agenda (which also includes solar farms, energy infrastructure, and other clean energy projects).
Why This Matters for Global Green Mobility
- Diplomatic Statement: Reinforces India’s role as a reliable partner in South-South development
- Technology Leadership: Positions Switch Mobility and Indian EV companies as global suppliers of advanced, robust, and affordable electric buses
