ZF to supply safety systems for electric buses
ZF Group has secured a contract to supply ADAS technology for electric buses in India. The deal was awarded by a domestic vehicle maker. Production of the system will begin in early 2027. The project also includes testing and integration support.
This step helps improve safety in public transport vehicles. Electric buses carry many passengers each day. So, strong safety systems are very important. This project supports safer roads and better travel experiences.
Advanced safety features built into the system
The system is based on OnGuardMAX technology. It uses cameras and radar to detect objects on the road. These tools help activate Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) when danger appears. This helps prevent accidents and protects passengers.
Short-range radar also checks blind spots around the bus. The system connects with braking and stability tools. These include Electronic Braking Systems and Electronic Stability Control. Together, they create a strong safety setup.
Tested on Indian roads for real-world performance
The ADAS system has been tested over 450,000 kilometres on Indian roads. This ensures the system works well in local traffic conditions. It also meets GSR 184(E) safety standards required in India.
This testing helps build trust in the technology. It shows the system can handle different road and weather conditions. As more electric buses enter cities, such safety systems will become very important.
