Volume 1 Issue 11

Olectra Greentech Limited has secured a Letter of Intent (LOI) from Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) for 1,085 electric buses under the PM E-DRIVE initiative led by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL). The buses will be supplied through Evey Trans Pvt. Ltd. and deployed across Hyderabad to strengthen sustainable urban mobility.

The order marks a significant expansion of Hyderabad’s electric public transport network and reinforces Olectra’s leadership position in India’s electric bus market. The company currently has more than 3,600 electric vehicles deployed nationwide, an order book exceeding 10,000 vehicles, and has clocked over 500 million green kilometres.

12-Metre Low-Floor Buses with 250+ km Range

Under this LOI, Olectra will supply 12-metre low-floor electric buses in both air-conditioned (AC) and non-AC variants. The buses are indigenously designed and engineered for Indian road conditions and high-frequency urban routes.

Each bus will feature advanced front and rear air suspension systems to enhance ride comfort and passenger safety. Powered by high-capacity lithium-ion battery packs, the buses will offer a range of over 250 kilometres per charge. They will also support opportunity charging in approximately 45 minutes, enabling efficient fleet operations. Dedicated wheelchair accommodation will be included to promote inclusive mobility.

Strengthening Market Leadership in India’s E-Bus Segment

Headquartered in Hyderabad and part of the MEIL Group, Olectra has established itself as India’s largest electric commercial vehicle manufacturer, consistently maintaining the top market share in electric buses. In addition to buses, the company also manufactures electric tippers for urban infrastructure applications.

The large-scale order under the PM E-DRIVE programme highlights the growing role of aggregated procurement models in accelerating electric bus deployment across Indian cities. With this LOI, Hyderabad is set to significantly expand its zero-emission fleet, further supporting India’s clean energy and net-zero ambitions.
