Status: Notified; Date of Notification: February 5, 2021; Validity Period: 5 years from the date of issue of notification

  • At least 15% EV in the State by 2025.
  • Promote innovation in EVs for automotive and shared mobility by providing requisite ecosystem and infrastructure.
  • Support setting up of robust infrastructure for EVs including adequate power supply, charging infrastructure with favourable Power tariff and adequate service centres.
  • Create skilled workforce for the EVs industry in collaboration with technical institutions available in the State, encourage entrepreneurship and create new jobs in the EVs industry.
  • Mandate EV adoption in Government and its Boards, Corporations, Government undertakings, Development Authorities, Municipalities

Electric 2 Wheelers

  • Purchase subsidy of INR10,000/ kWh for first 3,500 e-2W (with maximum ex-factory price INR1,50,000)

Electric 3 Wheelers

  • Purchase subsidy of INR4,000/kWh for first 200 e-3W (with maximum ex-factory price INR5,00,000)

Electric 4-wheelers and Strong Hybrid Vehicles

  • Purchase subsidy of INR4,000/kWh for first 2,500 e-4W (with maximum ex-factory price INR15,00,000)

Electric buses

  • Purchase subsidy of INR4,000/kWh for first 30 e-buses (with maximum ex-factory price INR2,00,00,000)

Across all vehicle categories

  • Registration fees exemption for all EVs
  • Priority registration for all EVs
  • Road tax exemption as per notification dated March 4, 2022.

  • The skilling and mentoring support shall be provided to EV related startups for encouraging the EV ecosystem in the State.
  • The incentives for start-ups shall be as applicable under the Meghalaya Startup Policy, 2018.

  • Provide Government land, free of cost, to any Government agency (State and Central) including Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) or any private agency on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis, for the first 5 years
  • Priority electricity connection to EV charging stations.

  • Support to EV start-ups for skilling and mentoring.
  • Introducing short-term (4-6 months) courses, related to EV, EV Charging Stations, and other EV system related courses.

  • Charging Station operators will be encouraged to operate as end-of-life battery recycling agencies where Electric Vehicle owners can deposit their vehicle batteries that have reached their end of life.
  • The Government will facilitate in inviting battery recycling business to establish their presence in the State.
  • Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) shall also be held responsible for recycling of old batteries and their components.
